A 23-bedded negative pressure facility was constructed, fully equipped with it’s own critical care equipment, ventilators, an operation theatre and a labor room. In addition, separate pharmacy, laboratory and radiology services, to cater specifically to Covid-19 patients have also been added to the facility. The infectious diseases ward operates as an isolated unit from the rest of the hospital, therefore minimizing the risk of exposure and cross contamination to patients in other areas of the hospital. Our highly trained consultants and staff are on-call 24 hours a day, with central monitoring in place to observe all patients in critical care. South City Laboratory services for Covid-19 include PCR testing and 24-hour sample collection / at-home collection, with results made available within 48 hours. All safety measures are strictly practiced and enforced outside testing stations by our personnel. The importance of personal protective equipment (PPE) is of paramount importance; hence we at South City Hospital ensure all our health care professionals and staff working in the infectious unit ward are adequately protected by face masks, face shields, goggles and hazmat suits. The ER is equipped with lifesaving medications; emergency crash carts, defibrillators, ventilators and all the necessary supplies in a tertiary care setup. Stringent protocols and rules have also been implemented to minimize and restrict the entry of non-essential visitors inside the hospital.
