Description

Our History
Since its inception 6,322 patients received palliative as well as curative treatment. All patients are pathologically tested. Some undergo radiology and ultrasound diagnostics. Over 4200 patients received chemotherapy and more than 1,200 underwent radiotherapy. Complete treatment, boarding and lodging costs are borne by the institution.
‘Bait-ul-Sukoon’ (House of Peace & Contentment) originated in a house in KDA I where under-privileged terminally ill cancer patients were provided a hospice shelter. During the first year the institution was overwhelmed by the influx of many suffering persons. Those with better prognosis were offered curative treatment, thus it began to give clinical services also. That led to the foundation of the only cancer hospital with a hospice in Pakistan.

Over 4200 patients received chemotherapy and more than 1,200 underwent radiotherapy. Complete treatment, boarding and lodging costs are borne by the institution.

In 2009 Bait-ul-Sukoon Cancer Hospital and Hospice moved to its own purpose-built premises with 45 beds for inpatients and diagnostic facilities of mammography, ultrasound radiography, pathological laboratory and in house pharmacy offering a complete range of cancer treatment drugs. Awarness towards prevention of the disease is also imparted.

Philanthopists and Foundations funded the construction of this modern facility at a cost of Rs. 100 million. Built on a 1,200 sq. yds. plot in Block 3, K.C.H.S. Union, Karachi near the Hill Park, the hospital is divided over three floors with a total built-up area of 23000 sq. ft.

Dr. Jawaid Mallick, consultant oncologist, says that cancer patients and their families undergo a traumatic period of their lives, particularly when the only earning memberof the family is afflicted or a mother with young children is diagnosed to be suffering from cancer. He stated that admission policy at Bait-ul-Sukoon is purely on a need basis. A deserving patient is treated with out any bias, or is any community member given any preference over another. Renowned physicians, psychologist, gastroenterologist and orthopedic and general surgeons form a team to help the patients fight their cancers with strength and dignity.
