Overview
Lady Aitchison Hospital, Lahore was established In February 15, 1887 outside the walled city of Lahore which has now become the most thickly populated area of the city. It was named after the Lady wife of Governor of British Rule, Lady Aitchison.
Over the years the hospital has expanded to 200 beds and has become the first choice of maternity care for people of a vast catchment area spread beyond provincial boundaries. Lady Aitchison Hospital is affiliated with the most prestigious and historical institution that is; Kind Edward Medical University Lahore, and is a tertiary care teaching hospital with staff strength of 488. The hospital is over burdened with a large number of expecting mothers and patients of gynaecological ailments which range from 300-400 in OPD, 200 to 300 in emergency and 60 to 70 births in a day.
The hospital staff is firmly committed to provide health care services to the expecting mothers and other female patients through trained health human resources according to set professional standards in a safe and friendly environment. The hospital is pursuing its set objective in an efficient and patients friendly environment which are being monitored to determine their progress.
It has been tried to bring a behavioural change by emphasizing the practice of “Concern, Care and Courtesy” through best hospital management practices. Some of the immediate measures to improve governance by ensuring accountability and curb corruption have been taken.
