Description

ABOUT PATIENTS’ AID FOUNDATION
Patients’ Aid Foundation, a non-profit organization, was formed by a group of concerned citizens in 1990. It was initiated with the thought of alleviating the burden on Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) to provide quality and free healthcare to the thousands of patients that walk through its gates every day.

Over the years, an increasing volume of patients along with limited resources had put a strain on this renowned government hospital named after the founding father of the country. Patients’ Aid Foundation took responsibility to build back on its lost glory through a private-public partnership.

Overview of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC)
Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre, JPMC, is a government hospital, established over a huge landmass, with over thirty-one departments, dealing with every aspect of tertiary medicine. A 1605-bedded tertiary care facility, JPMC has two sister institutions – National Institute of Child Health and National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (550 bedded each). Itcaters primarily to low income groups and people from around Pakistan and abroad who travel miles in need of affordable treatment.

Approximately one million patients visit the OPD of JPMC every year; 56,000 are admitted; 30,000 surgeries and 15,000 deliveries are done every year free of charge. Moreover, the hospital houses the busiest Accident and Emergency ward amongst all hospitals in the city which offers services 24/7 free of cost to approximately 1,200 patients every day.

Humanity Meets Healthcare
Patients’ Aid Foundation, with the support from generous donors works alongside JPMC to facilitate these patients, aid their treatment, cater to their needs and grant them access to quality healthcare, free of cost.

With over 2 decades of sheer hard work and serving its motto of ‘Humanity Meets Healthcare’, Patients’ Aid Foundation has transformed the shape of JPMC by:
• Improving pre-existing systems and creating new systems
• Funding massive infrastructure projects
• Renovating existing building and structures
• Providing modern equipment and machinery
• Providing human resources to different departments in JPMC

Our journey started with managing the Blood Bank but today, Patients’ Aid Foundation has its footprint in over 14 departments and several multi-billion projects in progress. Maintaining a strictly apolitical stance, Patients’ Aid Foundation has successfully completed ten large-scale projects, established a state-of-the-art blood bank, a highly sophisticated laboratory and a streamlined drug bank. Today, Patients’ Aid Foundation has established a resolute reputation, which gives it the privilege of continuing its work, with the support of benevolent philanthropists.
